The poor and needy community lacks more resources than just finances.

It lacks adequate food, shelter and clothing. Shoulder To Shoulder gives away clothing, furniture and groceries. STS’s vision includes emergency housing for families.

The community lacks the resources of dignity, civility and safety. STS establishes programming andClothing equips personnel and volunteers to meet emotional, educational, medical, vocational, recreational and other needs so the poor and needy can develop the skills necessary to live with dignity and security.

The poor and needy community lacks the ability to reach fully into the network of available resources. STS resources with other agencies to bring needed services to the underserved.

Poverty's Profile:

  • Single mothers and grandmothers
  • Two or more school age children in most households
  • Moms working odd shifts to accommodate school schedules
  • Respiratory diseases, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension
  • Children having children
