Games every Sat at 12:30
Basketball League at Marguerite Robinson Community Center The greatest moment last week at the games was when Kris, an 8 year old kid, made a basket. He turned immediately to the bleachers to see who was watching. So cute! He didn't care about the rebound or that he was now on defense. He had succeeded at making a shot and wanted someone to celebrate it with him. That's what this league is all about. We have volunteer coaches and referees that work very hard to shift focus from winning to playing, learning and supporting the team. Every kid gets court time and often the bigger kids are taken out so that the scores don't run up on the smaller teams. It's not perfect science to keep the play equitable but it's a blast to watch. Another of the little kids, Cody who is about 7, runs with absolutely every ounce of energy he has. He's probably half the size of Rudy who is in 6th grade but can keep up with him when they run the court. You've got to see it to believe it. Come to one or all of the remaining games: Saturday, 1/16, 12:30 pm Saturday, 2/6, Awards Banquet |
