EXCELLENT HOME MAKE-OVER

What a great opportunity for summer service, summer fun and summer friends! Our makeover this year is going to be such a delight. Let me tell you about it:

The Family: Dorian and Mahannare Harris have lived in their home for 5 years and are raising 6 children on it's wide front porch and large backyard. Mia, Dorian, Jamesha, Jahmaree, Emonie and the baby Naeem, are happy kids doing well in school and enjoying the summer.

The House: Dorian and Mahannare are the first members of their family to own a home. They bought this lovely old house and have had to fix the plumbing, learn how to care for the yard and other chores that homeownership demands. After the plumbing was repaired, holes were left in the drywall and pipes are exposed in the dining room and boy's bedroom. Some of the tiles in the living room ceiling were damaged before the plumbing was repaired.

The Work:

  • Framing and Drywall: On Saturday, July 19, a few skilled volunteers are going to frame up closets to cover the exposed pipes and repair the hole in the living room ceiling.
  • Painting: Monday, July 21 through Thursday, July 24, volunteers from all over the city are going to paint the livingroom, dining room and kid's rooms.
  • Yard work: Morning and evening shifts will help with weeding and mowing.
  • Landscaping: Low maintenance plants donated by Morris Lawn and Landscaping.
  • Cleaning: Professional cleaning services have been donated by Donna's Housekeeping.
  • Carpet Cleaning: Professional carpet cleaning services have been donated by Trinity Cleaners

  • Morning shift, 9 to noon
  • Afternoon shift, 1 to 4
  • Evening shift, 6 to 9
